Perth Wildcats superstar Bryce Cotton has revealed an increased “sense of urgency” has helped sparked the club’s recent hot streak.
The Wildcats had a bumpy start to the season but have turned things around with four consecutive wins. Cotton believes the playing group working towards a common goal helped the ‘Cats find their groove .
“This is a pivotal point in the season and that sense of urgency is what picked it up for us,” Cotton said.
“I think everybody is at a stage now where we’re all really locked into the same goal, we’ve all got the same focus and it’s starting to show on the floor.
“Obviously everybody wants to win, but it seems like even if you didn’t know this team from the outside in looking in, it looks like we’re all together.”
The Wildcats have managed to remain in touch with the top two, sitting fifth with a 9-7 record.
A key piece in Perth’s winning streak has been Corey Webster’s uptick in production. While he went scoreless in Tuesday’s win over Cairns, Webster scored 20, 22 and 26 points in the games before that.
Cotton praised Webster’s addition to the team, mentioning how well he has slotted in.
“We knew coming into the season having a player like Corey, it was going to open up the floor for so many, including myself,” Cotton said.
“He’s been a great scorer in this league for some time and he’s still got it so that’s one of the benefits of playing with an elite scorer, they could be missing all of their shots and the defence is still worried about them.”
The Wildcats play the Brisbane Bullets on Tuesday at 7:30pm AEDT at Nissan Arena.
