Roth's Excitement at New-Look JackJumpers

With their NBL24 roster already filled, Tasmania JackJumpers head coach Scott Roth has provided several reasons why Tassie is set to be a top team once again this season.

The JackJumpers were the first to complete their roster in the offseason, and star import Milton Doyle was the centre of the build.

“Milton was obviously the key for us when the season was over with, and we felt very good about where we were with him all along,” Roth told NBL Media.

“To have him for two years is going to be exciting and that was the building block of what we wanted to put around him.”

Doyle was the only import to stay with the JackJumpers, with the additions of former Melbourne United big Marcus Lee and experienced baller Jordon Crawford.

Roth assured fans will have their eyes glued on Crawford with his dynamic style of play.

“We have an exciting player in Crawford, I think the people are going to fall in love with how dynamic he is,” he said.

The JackJumpers finished fourth on the ladder last season with a 16-12 record, and fell one game short of reaching the Championship Series.

“The thing we tried to do this year was expand our shooting and get a little bit more athletic and more size," Roth said. 

“We brought in Majok Deng because of his size and shooting, Drmic gives us another shooter. Junior Madut gives us another guy that has some athletic ability, speed, and can shoot the ball.

“We’re trying to open up the floor a little bit more, especially for Crawford and Milt to have some room, and having someone like Lee and Magnay rolling down the lane.”

Crawford will make his debut with the JackJumpers on Friday, September 29, against the Perth Wildcats.
