Roth reinforces home court importance

JackJumpers head coach Scott Roth believes any title tilt from is side will be built from turning MyState Bank Arena into a fortress.

The Tasmania JackJumpers emerged from Round 2 with a pair of impressive wins over Sydney and Melbourne.

First they defended their home court against a dangerous Sydney side, before travelling to Melbourne to complete a stellar comeback win against United.

The pair of results has even seen NBL legend Derek Rucker state his belief the JackJumpers are the team to beat this season.

JackJumpers head coach Scott Roth has never been one to get ahead of himself, and he believes wins like that over Sydney last weekend will form the bedrock of a successful season.

“The results will be the results and a win on the road is something that gives you a little bit of confidence, but winning at home, to me, it really the key to success for getting where you need to go,” Roth told News Corp.

“The last two years we’ve been ok at home, not great, and we’ve been better on the road – so any road win to me is just about running out of the arena and being humble and thankful.

“Thursday’s game is going to be quite dangerous.”

The JackJumpers host Illawarra tonight at 7:30pm AEDT.
