REPORT: Star set to miss Wildcats' Round 2 fixtures

The Perth Wildcats' point guard woes appear set to continue after reports suggest import signing Brandon Knight is unlikely to suit up for the team in Round 2.

According to ESPN's Olgun Uluc, Brandon Knight will not be available for the Wildcats' Hungry Jack's NBL27 fixture with Adelaide on Thursday, September 24, as the NBL talent is not in Australia yet.

Uluc also said it's unlikely the 34-year-old will be available for the Wildcats' Round 2 clash with New Zealand at Spark Arena on Saturday, September 26.

Without Knight and injured Jaron Rillie available in Round 1, the Wildcats lost 100-79 to South East Melbourne.

1990 NBL MVP Derek Rucker was stern in his assessment of the Wildcats' current point guard situation.

"I hope the Perth Wildcats lose most of their games or all their games," Rucker said on NBL Overtime.

"Until they pay their penance to the basketball gods for coming into this season with this incomplete lineup.

"They need to pay a price. They need to get Brandon Knight out there.

"I'm giving them 11 games, a third of the season, to pay their debt to the universe of basketball.

"Then they can get back to it, and I will judge them based on their performances at that time."

Thursday's clash between the Wildcats and Sixers marks Trevor Gleeson's first game coaching back in Perth since rejoining the League.
