Two of Australia’s most talented young basketball players are coming through Queensland, and one of them – Roman Siulepa – is set to begin training with the Brisbane Bullets during NBL24.
Siulepa and fellow Queenslander Rocco Zikarsky dominated in the Under-18 National Championships in Brisbane, with Siulepa’s most impressive performance coming in a 10-point win over Victoria Country.
He finished that game with 29 points, six assists, five steals and a pair of rebounds.
Zikarsky added 30 points and 19 rebounds in the same game.
“We are going to have a development minded program, so any Queensland kid that comes through – we want to have an open avenue for them to be involved with the Bullets,” Brisbane head coach Justin Schueller told News Corp.
“The unique part about Roman is he is still in Year 11, and to be part of an NBL program doesn’t work hand in glove.
“Once he has finished with this championship we’ll be able to start integrating him from July into our daily training environment.”
