New Adelaide 36ers forward Keanu Pinder has warned he makes a “dangerous” pairing with teammate and childhood best friend Sunday Dech.
Pinder and Dech both joined the 36ers this offseason, but it won’t be the first time they play together. The duo grew up together in Western Australia and played juniors together at East Perth and are ready to reignite that chemistry with Adelaide.
“I’m excited to play with my boy because he was one of my best friends growing up, so me and him on the same team are dangerous,” Pinder told 7 News Adelaide.
“I’m very excited, I’ve been working very hard all (offseason). I’m just excited to show you what I’ve got.”
Dech echoed Pinder’s sentiments, while adding he anticipates the pairing will create some entertaining highlights for the 36ers faithful.
“Growing up together, I know what he is like and I know the things that make him trigger on the court to get the best out of him,” Dech told 7 News Adelaide.
“I know where he wants the ball and hopefully I can deliver it to him and give him a few alley oops that’ll get the fans involved.”
Earlier this year on Gibbo Goes One-On-One Driven by MG, Dech spoke about his childhood days growing up with Pinder.
“We are childhood friends, we grew up playing for the same junior club in East Perth and have followed each other’s careers,” Dech said of Pinder.
“He grew up five minutes down the road, so we would hang out non-stop when we were younger. That’s someone who, when I found out he had signed, I was super excited and I was like wow, we get to chuck the ball around again like we are kids again.”
