Perth Wildcats Statement

Wednesday, February 3, 2021

The Perth Wildcats will fly to Melbourne tomorrow and remain in quarantine there for the next 14 days.

The Perth Wildcats will fly to Melbourne today, Wednesday February 3, and remain in Victoria under strict biosecurity protocols.

Victorian health authorities have granted Perth players and coaches entry into Victoria with conditions including that for the next 14 days they must remain in isolation when they are not training or playing.

Players and coaches are required to get tested within 72 hours of arrival.  They must also contact the Department of Health immediately if they have any COVID-19 symptoms.

The team has been operating under the NBL’s strict COVID-safe protocols since the commencement of the NBL season and have been in Sydney since Monday after the announcement of a five-day lockdown in Western Australia.

NBL Commissioner Jeremy Loeliger said: “I want to thank Victorian health officials for their assistance in allowing Perth to travel to Melbourne under strict biosecurity controls, including that they remain in isolation when they are not training and playing. This includes travelling to Bendigo to play Melbourne United this Sunday.

“The team will also continue to follow the NBL’s strict COVID-safe protocols and remain in Melbourne until the completion of the NBL Cup, which starts on February 20.”
