Perth Star On Track for Blitz

Tuesday, September 13, 2022
Star Perth Wildcats import TaShawn Thomas has been cleared of major damage to his left ankle.
Star Perth Wildcats import TaShawn Thomas has been cleared of major damage to his left ankle, after he was seen hobbling off the court in the Wildcats’ pre-season win over Adelaide.
He left the court early in the final quarter and ended up stuck outside the stadium after opening an external door. Once back inside he went to the bench and played no further part in the contest.
He had registered 10 points, three rebounds, four assists and two steals for the game, before he was forced from the court.
Thomas didn’t require crutches to leave the stadium after the game, and Wildcats head coach John Rillie says the centre should be available for the NBL Blitz.
“He just tweaked his ankle and he’ll be fine,” Rillie said.
“We can see what he brings to our roster with his play at both ends. The other [injured] guys (Jesse Wagstaff, Majok Majok and Corey Shervill) are progressing really well so we expect to go to Darwin with a full roster.”
Thomas and fellow import Brady Manek were among seven Wildcats to score in double figures in the six-point win, with Manek leading the way with 14 points.
Perth opens its NBL Blitz campaign against Cairns on Saturday, September 17.
