So far, NBL24 has the lowest average margin of any season in NBL history.

Despite the winning discrepancy between ladder-leaders Melbourne United and currently bottom side Illawarra, NBL24 has – so far – been historically close on the court.

At the time of writing there have been 28 games played in the new campaign, and the average margin of 10.5 points per game is the lowest in NBL history. Of those 28 games, 16 have been decided by 10 points or less.

Not only are games closer than they were in NBL23, where the average margin was 10.9 points per game, both the winning and losing sides are attempting more shots, scoring more points, and making more threes per game than they were when compared to last season.

The competition being so close, following a season where Melbourne were ruled out of post-season basketball on percentage alone, has hammered home the fact every moment matters.

Round 5 of NBL24 will commence with a Thursday night double-header on October 26. First New Zealand hosts Adelaide, before the Hawks take on the Taipans.
