McVeigh Turning Agent to Re-Sign Import Trio

The Tasmania JackJumpers’ host of contracted talent have put their agents’ hats on since their elimination from the Playoffs, and Jack McVeigh is leading the charge to get the side’s trio of imports re-signed.
Josh Magette, Rashard Kelly and All-NBL First Team selection Milton Doyle are all yet to be signed on for the NBL24 season, while veteran guard Jarrad Weeks is also out of contract.
Doyle was a revelation in his first season in the NBL and averaged over 17 points, four rebounds and three assists a game – but most impressive was his ability to put the team on his back and hit clutch shots consistently over the season.
Kelly’s performances off the bench earned him a Sixth Man of the Year nomination, while Magette has been a near ever-present since the organisation came into existence.
“It’s always a tough one in professional sports where the turnover – especially with imports – is always high,” McVeigh told The Mercury.
“We were recruiting them last night and the boys were getting around them telling them to ‘run it back’, so we’ll always be chasing that.
“One of the beauties and curses of sport is you never know when the same team will be together or when you’ll see teammates again … it’s a bunch of mixed emotions at this time of year.”
