Madut's "Full-Circle" Moment

After starting his career as a train-on player with the South East Melbourne Phoenix Junior Madut has come back to where it all began, finally signing on with the club for NBL23 after a successful college career at the beginning of this season.

Madut has been immense for the Phoenix in the absence of key guards Gary Browne and Trey Kell, and he exploded for 21 points in last week’s defeat to Illawarra.

The guard has captured the attention of neutral supporters nationwide for his ability to finish close to the rim through traffic, and he credits the environment the Phoenix have created in helping him thrive.

“It’s a full circle moment,” Madut told Phoenix Media. “I trained with the Phoenix and they helped me get better before I went to college. I went to college, had that experience, grew through that and was able to come back exactly where I left off.

“Not many people get to do that, I’m blessed to be in this position.”
