Lowery Highlights Import Needs for United and Bullets

NBL analyst Damon Lowery has highlighted the import needs for Melbourne United and the Brisbane Bullets on The Huddle Podcast with Liam Santamaria.

Lowery called for one import change at United, suggesting Rayjon Tucker to remain in the team following “the way he accepted his new role”, and the possibility of Jordan Caroline to be replaced.

“He (Tucker) is eating so much humble pie that I’m surprised he can still elevate like he can,” he said.

“He has now worked out over time, let me (speaking for Tucker) redefine myself in this team because I want to keep a job.”

Tucker had a slow start to the season but quickly turned that around now averaging 13.2 points and 6.8 rebounds.

“He can come off that bench and he can affect the game, he rebounded out of sight, this small ball line-up truly suits him,” Lowery said.

“I’m happy to keep him in, but obviously they need another guy.”

The current imports for United are Tucker, Caroline and Xavier Rathan-Mayes.

Santamaria supported Lowery saying, “they need a big, they need a five to help out Isaac Humphries”.

Lowery believes the Bullets need a “pure point guard” to help out Jason Cadee.

Brisbane has an open import spot after parting ways with Devondrick Walker last week.

“They’ve already got the front court rock solid; Tyrell Harrison, (Aron) Baynes, (Harry) Froling, great,” Lowery said.

“The point guard situation, I like Jason Cadee but I can almost see him in a roll similar to Kyle Adnam once a pure point guard comes in, I’m not saying any point guard, because I trust Jason Cadee.

“When Jason Cadee goes off the court, who’s the point guard? Sobey, I’m nervous, Sobey is great in his lane, he's running the floor in transition, he can get height, he can get streaky from three. But to run the team, I think Sobey is more wired to finish.

“If I’m getting another guard, a lead guard, where I can play him sometimes with J Cadee or bring J Cadee off the bench, absolutely.”
