“You can binge basketball for a week, and that’s what I’ll be doing.”

Boomers champion Luc Longley says fans in Perth will get out and support an incredible celebration of all things basketball and culture this weekend, as HoopsFest opens the Hungry Jack’s NBL Season.

“The idea of having all the games in one place, and bringing in the NBA, the under 18’s, the WNBL ... all that action around the sport, it’s going to get people excited,” Longley said on Tuesday.

“You can binge basketball for a week, and that’s what I’ll be doing.”

Longley grew up in Perth, after being born in Melbourne, and says the opportunity to bring the basketball community together in one place is a huge win for the sport.

“Get out and support it and get as much basketball as you can ingest and have some fun with it,” he said.

“If that happens, it grows and grows legs and it’s good for the game and good for the fans.”

Tickets are almost sold out for games between Thursday and Saturday, with reigning Grand Finalists the Tasmania JackJumpers and Melbourne United to tip off the NBL season.

HoopsFest will host the NBL’s opening round, Cygnett WNBL games and Foot Locker Under 18 Club Championships, as well as a four-day fan festival, Sneakerland fashion event & more, from Thursday to Sunday.

Tickets are still available, but selling fast.
