NBL owner Larry Kestelman is a supporter of making player salaries public.
Sydney co-owner Andrew Bogut recently claimed the Kings were “not over the salary cap”, sparking debate about player and team salaries being on the public record.
“I certainly am not one who would argue against it,” Kestelman told Newscorp’s The Basketball Show.
“I think fans would love to know it. I do think we need to have a real discussion with players themselves (about) how they feel about it through the players union, how the owners feel.
“I understand there’s sensitives involved. We need to get the players and owners involved in the conversation, but I would personally be for it.”
Kestelman also threw up a bold plan to make the free agency process public.
“I don’t like some of the gamesmanship that goes on through free agency and with agents. The more transparency the better,” he said.
“Is there an idea (around) how we do everything completely openly online, how teams put their bids forward for salaries and who they want?”
