Trey Kell has spoken on the potential of re-signing with the South East Melbourne Phoenix next season.
The import signed with the Phoenix for the 2022/23 season and admitted he didn’t play to his full potential due to ongoing injury issues.
Kell suffered a cracked rib in preseason and endured lingering bumps and bruises during the course of the campaign.
Kell said he wasn’t able to play at 100 per cent this season but is still hopeful to return and make a drastic impact.

“I told the team I wasn’t happy with my performance this year. I definitely had some things that didn’t allow me to be 100 per cent,” Kell said via Newscorp.
“We’ve had some discussions about next year and we both have mutual interest but, with the new coach, we’ll see what their plans are and if I’m in those and we can make it work.”
Newly appointed head coach Mike Kelly is in the works to build a strong, tough roster, with Kell’s future at the club unknown.
Kelly’s focus on the Phoenix this year is to develop a strong defensive side.
“If we can be super athletic, super talented, can score and defend, that’s the best of everything,” Kelly said on the latest episode of The Huddle Podcast.
