Mitch Creek has called Mason Peatling’s hit on him “inappropriate”, as emotions continue to boil over following yesterday’s incredible Throwdown between South East Melbourne Phoenix and Melbourne United.
Tensions flared when Creek threw down a massive dunk, that has to be seen to be believed, on star guard Matthew Dellavedova. Creek stood over Dellavadova and celebrated the play, which prompted a shoulder charge from Peatling. That act sparked an all-in scruffle.
“That was an inappropriate play and something we won’t stand for as a club and me professionally, I won’t stand for my team or myself,” Creek told SEN.
“Once my brain went, ‘that’s probably not ok’, that’s all it took for me to jump up."

While Peatling apologised for his reaction to coach Dean Vickerman, it remains to be seen whether he will receive further sanctions from the NBL.
“He’s already assessed himself that he needs to be smarter in that situation,” Vickerman said.
“He apologised, saying, ‘I saw my teammate getting disrespected, I’ve got to be better in how I counter that one without getting thrown out of the game’.
“Mason thought it was disrespectful and he gave Creeky a little bump there and then all the boys came in.”
As for Dellavedova, he didn’t care about being dunked on.
“I have been dunked on worse than that before. It was a good play by him,” Dellavedova said.
