Red Army 12,000 strong
The Perth Wildcats have eclipsed the 12,000 member mark for the first time in club history.
“It’s an incredible and humbling achievement…that’s a testament to the loyalty. In any business, loyalty is critical and we are very grateful to the Red Army,” Wildcats CEO Troy Georgiu told The West Australian.
United’s depth outlasts Taipans
Melbourne United coach Dean Vickerman was confident his squad’s depth would beat down Cairns yesterday, which is what happened during a 28-10 third quarter blitz.
“We’ve built this team with depth, and we thought over time somewhere in the second half that we might be able to create a run that was going to be too much for them,” Vickerman said via the Cairns Post.
Breakers won’t stop fighting
New Zealand Breakers coach Dan Shamir says his players won’t stop fighting as their campaign comes to a close.
“In the next three games that we have to play, I doubt it that dramatic things will change, however, our players do have character and they come to compete and they all want to play until the last possession,” Shamir said.
Forde frustrated with Snakes
Coach Adam Forde was frustrated with the selfish style of play from his Cairns Taipans against Melbourne yesterday.
“I felt the first half - there was a level of disconnect between certain individuals,” Forde said via the Cairns Post.
Phoenix must close better
While relieved with snapping their three-game losing streak, South East Melbourne Phoenix coach Simon Mitchell says his side needs to do a better job in fourth quarters.
“There's aspects that I liked, there's certain areas of the game that we've been horrible at for a little while...it's good to be winning, it's good to get a win, we needed it. But we've got to close games out a hell of a lot better than that,” Mitchell said via the Bendigo Advertiser.
