Australian Boomers coach Brian Goorjian says the NBL is a vital element of the national team program ahead of February’s World Cup Qualifiers, declaring “to qualify for the World Cup and the Olympics without our NBA players, the NBL is becoming a very important part of the Boomers”.

Tasmania JackJumpers signing Will Magnay is finally injury free and has told The Mercury, “it’s a bit of relief and a bit of happiness and really grateful for everyone that helped me get back out there”.

Magnay had 11 points, four rebounds, two steals and two blocks in 13 minutes against Adelaide yesterday.

Tall Taipans to strike

Could the Cairns Taipans implement a jumbo line-up including Stephen Zimmerman and Nate Jawai? They played minutes together yesterday and assistant coach Kerry Williams said “we came into the preseason wanting to look at different line ups to see how they work”.
