Hot like Steph

Melbourne United import Caleb Agada had high praise for Chris Goulding after his six second half three-pointers helped lead United to a win over the New Zealand Breakers yesterday.

“Man, it’s like Steph Curry, I have never seen, I have never played with somebody like that before. I am just shocked, it’s amazing,” Agada said about Goulding on ESPN.

ScoMo’s Law warning

Perth Wildcats coach Scott Morrison has warned star import Vic Law to keep his cool during games after he was cited by the Game Review Panel for head-butting on Friday night.

“He’s got to be a little extra careful now because if something else happens he could be considered a repeat offender…we need him in the game so he’s got to be able to control himself better than he showed,” Morrison said via The West Australian.

The incident has been assessed as a one-game suspension, but will be reduced to a $1000 fine with an early guilty plea. Law is expected to take the early guilty plea.

Duncan lauds Sobey

The Brisbane Bullets weren’t even sure if Nathan Sobey would play in yesterday’s game against the Illawarra Hawks. But play he did, as Sobey helped lead the club to an upset win over the previously undefeated Hawks.

“He's just a warrior…we didn't really know if he was going to play. He sent me a message just this morning like 'I'm good to go coach',” coach James Duncan said via 7 News.

Breakers hit “tough times”

There is no running from the precarious situation facing the 0-5 New Zealand Breakers, with coach Dan Shamir conceding, “these are tough times, and we have to figure it out”.

Goorjian ponders change

Illawarra coach Brian Goorjian is considering making changes to his starting line-up, despite the Hawks starting the season 3-1.

"I'm still trying to figure out the starting group, the rotations, what guys play together, but all weekend the first six-eight minutes of the game have been disappointing…we've got new guys here, maybe that's not the group you start the game with,” Goorjian said, via the Illawarra Mercury.

Melbourne fully united again

There was reason to celebrate Jack White’s return from injury yesterday as it also marked United having their full team together again.

"This is the first game for a long time that we've had everybody available. We came in with the squad that we selected for the season and obviously it was a big occasion for us to celebrate Jack White's return," coach Dean Vickerman said after the win over the Breakers.

Giddey closing in on triple-double

Josh Giddey again flirted with his first NBA triple double yesterday, recording eight points, 10 assists and 18 rebounds as his Oklahoma City Thunder took down the Los Angeles Clippers.

“I was aware…I knew in the third quarter. But I couldn’t hit a shot,” Giddey said with a laugh, via The Age.
