Magette heating up

The seven three-pointer performance from Josh Magette on Sunday wasn’t a surprise to Tasmania JackJumpers coach Scott Roth, who says the point guard regularly makes those shots at training.

“He hit some crucial shots and some open shots and really those are the ones he usually makes in practice and it just hasn’t translated quite yet into some of the games. It was good I think for him to feel good about himself and when he’s making those types of shots it opens up a lot of different things for people,” Roth said via The Mercury.

JJ’s keen on NBLxNBA

JackJumpers CEO Simon Brookhouse says the club would be keen on playing NBLxNBA preseason games.

“We would certainly welcome the opportunity to put our hand up to play,” Brookhouse told The Mercury.

Pinder’s bravery praised

Cairns Taipans coach Adam Forde has praised the bravery of Keanu Pinder for challenging Antonius Cleveland’s highlight making dunk on Saturday night.

“I know that dunk will get the rounds, everyone loves the highlights…I need to command Keanu for that because this is probably the problem with basketball today – people don’t challenge that now. He didn’t let his image or his ego influence going for that. I can’t be more proud of that,” Forde said via the Cairns Post.

Hawks don’t blink

Harry Froling says the Illawarra Hawks’ leaders are setting a standard for the club as they try to find some consistency.

“Guys like Tyler (Harvey), JJ (Justinian Jessup), AC (Antonius Cleveland) and X (Xavier Rathan-Mayes) are important for us. Even though they might not be playing to their expectations all the time, they never blink an eye and they're always great teammates, and are always ready for the next game,” Froling told the Illawarra Mercury.
