Coach promises Kings response

Sydney Kings coach Chase Buford has declared his club will bounce back from last night’s record-making 42-point defeat to Melbourne, when they play South East Melbourne on Saturday.

“We’ll be ready. We’re not going to lay an egg like this on Saturday. I promise you that,” Buford said.

United shocked with start

Dean Vickerman wanted his club to start fast but even he couldn’t anticipate Melbourne United building a 26-0 lead against Sydney after just six minutes last night.

"We talked about trying to get off to a good start but I'm not sure if I've been a part of (a) 26-0 start in this league," Vickerman said.

Drmic a game-time decision

The Brisbane Bullets will make a game time decision on whether Anthony Drmic will play against Perth tonight, according to The West Australian.

Drmic injured his ankle in last Sunday’s game against the Wildcats.

Bullets excited to head back to Jungle

Jason Cadee says his Brisbane Bullets are relishing the challenge of trying to beat the Wildcats in Perth again tonight, after last Sunday’s 2OT win in the same environment.

“I don’t think there would be many teams that have done it back-to-back but we’re looking forward to trying to do that,” Cadee said via The Courier Mail.

Home games vital for Cats

Perth coach Scott Morrison isn’t diminishing how important it is the Wildcats bank home wins with a long road trip coming up.

“If we can go 13-1 at home, that goes a long way to making things a little bit easier on this tougher road trip,” he told The West Australian.

Hawks still have room to soar

Despite starting the season undefeated and looking like a championship contender, Illawarra Hawks coach Brian Goorjian has warned his team still has plenty of room for improvement.

"We haven't scratched the surface of who we can be," Goorjian told The Illawarra Mercury. Click here for the full story, as Goorjian discusses his emotions before the club’s first home game of the season tonight against New Zealand.

Phoenix moved on from Throwdown

South East Melbourne Phoenix coach Simon Mitchell says the side has “moved on pretty quickly” from the events during last week’s Throwdown and they’re focused on tomorrow’s battle with Sydney.

“Just because we’re 3-0, it doesn’t really mean shit. There’s still 25 more games to go,” Mitchell said via Newscorp.

Reath lifts lid on his journey

Illawarra star Duop Reath has opened up on his journey from war-torn South Sudan to winning an Olympic medal with Australia.
