Illawarra Hawks hero Tim Coenraad has called time on his career after 14 seasons with the Hawks.

Illawarra Hawks hero Tim Coenraad has called time on his career after 14 seasons with the Hawks.

The veteran will prepare to suit up for his 374th and final NBL game as the Hawks take on the Tasmania JackJumpers to round out their disappointing NBL23 campaign.

Coenraad initially retired in 2020 but came out of retirement as an injury replacement player for Cam Bairstow. His extra three seasons at the top level saw him move up to third in the club’s all-time games played record.

The 37-year-old has appeared in 23 games this season and averaged just over two points per game.

“It’s fitting Tim will have the chance to wear this Hawks uniform one final time here at home,” Hawks General Manager of Basketball, and Coenraad’s former teammate, Mat Campbell said.

“He means an awful lot to the organisation and the Illawarra basketball community, and I would love for a full house at the Entertainment Centre on Saturday to see a Hawks win and see him off in style.

“It was a pleasure to have played and worked with Tim, and more so than any other player in the last decade he has been the heart and soul of the Hawks.”

On Thursday night, the Hawks celebrated the career of one of its great clubmen, Kevin White.
