Illawarra coach Jacob Jackomas is at a loss for answers on why the Hawks have started the season with a 1-8 record.

Illawarra coach Jacob Jackomas is at a loss for answers on why the Hawks have started the season with a 1-8 record.

“I can’t really pinpoint what’s going on with the group right now,” Jackomas said.

“Our problem is we show something and then we sit on it and then we go into this box again.”

Recently recruited Peyton Siva says he needs to use his past experience to help the young Hawks fight through their current struggles.

“As a pro you’re faced with different challenges, I’ve been that way throughout my whole career,” Siva said.

“I gotta do a better job of controlling everybody, as an extension of the coach on the floor, so gotta get better, as a whole as a collective.

“Those losing streaks get to you, Luckily with this break, it gives us a fresh start and a sense to kind of step away from the game, clear our minds and go back out there.”

The Illawarra Hawks are back on the court to play the Sydney Kings on November 20.
