After breaching the NBL’s code of conduct twice in his inaugural season in charge, Sydney Kings coach Chase Buford says he’s sought help to manage his “short fuse”.

While his coaching abilities helped lead a star-studded lineup to the title at the first time of asking, the Kings' coach also had some incidents he'd rather forget.

“In all different sports I had an affinity to lose my cool, get in altercations ... this is not a new problem for me,” Buford told Newscorp.

“I've struggled with controlling myself and my emotions in the field of competition from a young age ... some of those problems have reared their head in ways that I’m not proud of.

“I’ve spent some good time this summer seeing a psychologist about it (my temper) ... I’ve got to be better in those moments when things aren’t going my way. My first reaction can’t be to get so aggressive and barky.”

Buford’s Kings take on the Aron Baynes and Tyler Johnson led Brisbane Bullets tonight. While Sydney is coming off a hard-fought win against local rivals Illawarra, the Bullets will be hoping to pick up their first win of the new season.
