Any coach who’s taken their team to back-to-back Championships is sure to be in high demand – and Chase Buford is no exception.

Any coach who’s taken their team to back-to-back Championships is sure to be in high demand – and Chase Buford is no exception.

The 34-year-old isn’t resting on his laurels though – in fact, he’s already eyeing a three-peat with the star-studded Sydney Kings.

Buford will no doubt attract interest from overseas and harbours ambitions of an NBA head-coaching role, but until then, he has every intention of leading the Kings’ next Championship tilt.

“That’s the plan, for sure (to return) — we’ll try to reload and come back strong and give it another crack,” he told News Corp. “I’m just loving where I’m at right now, love being a head coach, love coaching basketball, so, whatever that looks like, is fine by me.”

Buford was the head coach at the Wisconsin Herd, the Milwaukee Bucks’ G-League affiliate, before arriving in Australia.

Previous to that, he held assistant coaching roles at Delaware and Erie.

In charge of a star-studded roster across the past two seasons, Buford boasts the highest win percentage of any coach in the NBL’s history, at over 69 per cent.

Speaking to News Corp, he opened up on his “polarising” personality and the challenge of replacing MVP Xavier Cooks, who has headed to the NBA.
