Breakers Farewell Delany

The New Zealand Breakers and Finn Delany have officially parted ways, with the long-time Breaker signing in Germany with Telekom Baskets Bonn.

Delany, who has played for New Zealand since 2015, farewelled the Breakers in an Instagram post on Wednesday.

“(New Zealand Breakers), thank you for the journey. The club gave me an opportunity to chase my ambitions. I’m grateful for the many ups and downs with amazing teammates, coaches and staff,” Delany wrote.

Breakers coach Mody Maor says Delany leaves a strong legacy at the club, as he set the standard expected by all players.

“Finn is a true Breaker, he exemplifies everything we want our players to be, as such we will miss him very much,” Maor said.

“But we are also extremely proud for the part we have played in his development and are excited for him as he chases his dream of playing overseas.

“Finn - all of Breaker Nation is behind you.”

New Zealand also confirmed they will scan the import market for a power forward to replace Delany.

Izayah Le’afa, Tom Abercrombie, Tom Vodanovich, Dan Fotu, Rob Loe and Sam Timmins are the Kiwis on the Breakers’ roster, while Will McDowell-White, Cam Gliddon, Dererk Pardon and Next Star Rayan Rupert round out the squad, with two import spots available.
