Finn Delany will depart the New Zealand Breakers one season into a two-year deal.

The New Zealand Breakers and Finn Delany have agreed to a mutual release from the forward's contract.

Delany signed a two-year deal ahead of NBL24, but at the end of the first season of that deal advised the club he would be pursuing opportunities overseas.

"We thank him (Delany) for his immense contribution across two spells at the club, and he will have a warm Spark Arena welcome when he returns," the Breakers said via social media.

"I will miss the energy in Spark Arena and playing for a home crowd. I'm so grateful for the club and all those I worked with at the Breakers," Delany said.

The 28-year-old has played eight seasons at New Zealand, across two stints, with his most productive season coming in NBL21. He was named in the All-NBL Second Team, with averages of 16.2 points, 6.8 rebounds and 2.2 assists across that campaign.

The New Zealand born Delany joined the club in 2015, when he signed on as a Development Player. He grew at the club to become one of its star players, until departing for Germany at the end of NBL22.

After returning to the league, he suffered a calf injury in the first half of the season which left him watching from the sidelines for seven weeks.

Delany averaged 9.3 points a game in 182 appearances for the Breakers.
