Breakers' Captain Flies Home With Eye Injury

New Zealand captain Tom Abercrombie will play no further part in the NBL Blitz after suffering an eye injury in Sunday night’s clash with the Bullets.

Abercrombie, who has played in four NBL championships with the Breakers, suffered the injury just 46 seconds into the game after an inadvertent coming together with Brisbane centre Aron Baynes.

He has since returned to New Zealand and will be assessed in Auckland this afternoon.

The Breakers eventually lost to the Bullets to the tune of 12 points in the absence of their captain. Their next Blitz clash comes on Tuesday night against Illawarra.
