Boomers Continue World Cup Journey

A big crowd is expected to descend on the State Basketball Centre in Melbourne on Sunday, as the Australian Boomers host Kazakhstan.

The Boomers continue their journey in the FIBA Basketball World Cup Asian Qualifiers, coming off a big win against Bahrain on Thursday.

Australia currently sits top of Group F, with ten wins from 11 games during the opening two rounds of the tournament. Their qualification for the World Cup is already locked in.

The Boomers defeated Kazakhstan by 47 points when the countries last met in November.

Dean Vickerman's team boasts a strong local flavour, with nine NBL-based players in the squad.

Thursday night's victory was highlighted by strong performances from Melbourne United's Isaac Humphries (18 points, six rebounds), Perth's Todd Blanchfield (20 points) and captain Nick Kay (13 points).

The game will be shown live on ESPN via Kayo and Foxtel on Sunday, with tip-off at 3pm AEDT.
