NBL Overtime host Cam Luke has declared the Tasmania JackJumpers are the “hottest team in the league”.
NBL Overtime host Cam Luke has declared the Tasmania JackJumpers are the “hottest team in the league”.
The JackJumpers have won four straight games to improve to 4-3, creeping up the ladder and confirming their status as championship contenders.
Tasmania is fresh off dismantling the Perth Wildcats, 103-72, at home on Saturday night which caught the eye of the NBL world as they recorded their highest ever score and biggest victory.
“They’re just smashing teams,” NBL analyst Liam Santamaria said.
“That was no aberration, that 30 point beat down against Perth, because it was based on who they are and what they do.
“It was based in that ant army going nuts in the stands, so man this team is rolling.”

Former MVP Corey Williams has backed the JackJumpers from the start and isn’t surprised to see them flying.
“They’re in that top three as far as the toughest teams you want to see right now,” he said.
“You can’t give enough credit to the organisation, Scott Roth, and those players.
“When you see guys that nobody really wanted to rock with…these are guys, and I mean this in the most respectful way, teams wouldn’t sign these players, or if they did, they wouldn’t get playing time. All they really want is opportunity and a coach to believe in them, and they are delivering.”
Williams touched on how MyState Bank Arena has become one of the toughest arenas to visit, with the intimidation factor for opposing teams at the level that Perth’s RAC Arena used to have.
“We watched the Perth Wildcats get Wildcat’d,” Williams said.
“That team showed no fight. Scott Roth took a page out of the book of the wildcats.
“Back in the day you used to be scared to go to RAC Arena.”
The JackJumpers will aim for their fifth straight win on Sunday afternoon against the New Zealand Breakers.
