South East Melbourne Phoenix guard Kyle Adnam looks like a “next level player” ahead of the 2020/21 NBL season according to coach Simon Mitchell.
After averaging a career high 9.1 points per game for the Phoenix last season, Adnam has made immense strides during the offseason and looks “fantastic” on the training court.
“Kyle Adnam’s offseason has been unbelievable, he’s really moved into a next level player and I’m really looking forward to seeing him with a full squad here and giving him a stage to show what he’s worked on,” Mitchell told Phoenix Media.
“He has been fantastic.”
Mitchell added that another returning Phoenix player that is entering NBL21 with greater confidence is Kendall Stephens.
“Kendall’s in far better condition than when he came in last year,” Mitchell said.
“He’s looking really good, moving well, seems to have a quicker first step, his shots coming off quicker, everything about him has been fantastic. I’m really pleased with that.”
South East Melbourne’s contracted roster currently includes Mitch Creek, Cam Gliddon, Dane Pineau, Adnam, Adam Gibson, Stephens, Reuben Te Rangi, Yanni Wetzell and Izayah Mauriohooho-Le’afa (development player).
Mitchell says new addition Te Rangi has had an outstanding offseason, labelling him “the swiss army knife”, while fellow newcomer Werzell joins the group on Monday to begin his preseason.
