Wildcats Storm Home Against Exciting Hawks

Reigning NBL Champions Perth Wildcats have begun their preseason campaign with a win over the new look Hawks at RAC Arena.
 
With the game tied at 83 apiece and over a minute left, the Wildcats stormed home to secure the 91-83 victory.
 
Reigning MVP Bryce Cotton was back to his best with 25 points and five three-pointers, including an alley-oop dunk in the final minute which punctuated Perth’s win. Clint Steindl added 14 points off the bench for the Wildcats while new recruit John Mooney recorded 12 points and eight rebounds.

In their first outing under new coach Brian Goorjian, the Hawks impressed with an entertaining style of basketball. NBL Next Star and Golden State Warriors draft pick Justinian Jessup showcased his NBA talent with 24 points and import Tyler Harvey amassed 20 points.

Hawks signing and recent NBA player Deng Adel hobbled off the court in the final minute with an apparent leg injury but also showed he will be force this season.

The Wildcats and Hawks will meet again on Thursday night for another preseason hit out at the Bendat Basketball Centre. Tip-off is at 6:30pm AWST / 9:30pm AEDT and the game will be streamed live on NBL TV and the NBL’s Facebook, Twitch, YouTube and Twitter channels.
