Which teams are chasing Jack McVeigh?

Jack McVeigh could be on his way to a new NBL club.
The Cairns Taipans and Illawarra Hawks are strongly pursuing the signature of Jack McVeigh, ESPN’s Olgun Uluc is reporting.
The Tasmania JackJumpers officially released McVeigh from the final year of his contract on Monday, opening the door for other NBL clubs to sign the star.

“The JackJumpers relinquish their right of first refusal with Jack McVeigh (which they had through the 2026-27 season). This allows McVeigh to sign with another NBL team, if he wishes. The two teams pursuing him the strongest, sources told ESPN; Cairns Taipans and Illawarra Hawks,” Uluc tweeted.
Uluc said McVeigh could also consider overseas opportunities from high-level European teams.
“We left no stone unturned trying to bring Jack back to Tassie, but ultimately this is Jack’s decision and we now need to respect that,” Tasmania’s General Manager Basketball, Darren Smith said.
McVeigh played 102 games for the JackJumpers, famously leading them to their first Championship in the Hungry Jack’s NBL24 Season.
He spent last season with the Houston Rockets in the NBA, making nine appearances, while also playing 37 games with the Rio Grande Valley Vipers.
The 29-year-old has been open about his ambition to continue his NBA dream, but would be a huge signing for prospective teams in the NBL.
