Vodanovich Released From Breakers Contract

Wednesday, June 21, 2023
New Zealand forward Tom Vodanovich has been granted a release from his Breakers contract to pursue an international opportunity.
The New Zealand Breakers have granted a mutual release to power forward Tom Vodanovich, to allow the 28-year-old to accept a contract to play in the Philippines.
Vodanovich played one game for Filipino side Converge FiberXers following the conclusion of NBL23 and scored 39 points while adding 10 rebounds and three assists.
He has since been playing for the Wellingtons Saints in the NZNBL.
“Tom has been a valued member of the Breakers since returning last season, but we understand this opportunity is too good for him to pass up,” head coach Mody Maor said.
“Everyone at the club wishes him the best, and we hope to bring him back here in the future.”
Vodanovich has played 124 games across his NBL career and was a member of Sydney’s title-winning side of NBL22.
He averaged 3.7 points and 2.8 rebounds per game last season.
“I will always be a Breakers fan and I look forward to following the team’s progress in the upcoming season,” Vodanovich said.
“The experience of playing for the Breakers in the Championship Series last season – against the team I won a championship with the year before – will stay with me forever.
“I am grateful to Mody that the door remains open for me to return.”
Vodanovich’s departure means the Breakers have eight confirmed rostered players heading into the new season following the signing of former South East Melbourne centre Dane Pineau.
