Serious Injury Concerns for Hukporti

Melbourne United's big win over the Perth Wildcats in the Hungry Jack's NBL Blitz has been overshadowed by what appears to be a serious lower leg injury to Ariel Hukporti.

Hukporti slipped during the third quarter and fell to the ground in agonising pain while grabbing behind his left foot. He was helped off the court by teammates, before returning to the bench on crutches later in the game.

The 20-year-old NBL Next Star was projected to be the 56th pick in next year's NBA Draft according to ESPN and was poised to play a vital role for United this season.

There was also an injury concern for the South East Melbourne Phoenix in the night's other game, with point guard Gary Browne playing just five minutes before coming off with an apparent knee injury.
