Brisbane Bullets’ Max Mackinnon ($200,000), now $235,800, is the most traded-out player of the week as injuries and doubles drive the SuperCoach NBL Round 8 trade market.
Rookie guard Mackinnon is held by 2,246 fewer teams than at the Round 7 lockout. His ownership has fallen from 30.1 per cent to 17.8 per cent, and the NBL injury report lists him with a concussion and no confirmed return date.
Nate Hinton ($277,000), now $336,900, leads the buying, in 1,073 more teams than at the Round 7 lockout, with Kristian Doolittle ($317,500), now $365,800, close behind at 1,053. Doolittle’s ownership has gone from 15.1 per cent to 20.8 per cent in two days. Brisbane’s Archie Woodhill ($58,500), now $78,600, is third at 976, up $20,100 from his starting price.
Tasmania JackJumpers’ Ben Gold ($69,000), now $115,300, is the second most traded-out player, down 1,948 teams with a foot injury, but he is still in a third of all teams (33.3 per cent, down from 44.0). Two more injured players are also among the 15 most traded out: David Johnson ($232,900), now $206,500, is in 586 fewer teams, and Lat Mayen ($69,000), now $98,400, is in 280 fewer.
The buying follows the fixture. Only Brisbane, the Cairns Taipans, the Illawarra Hawks and the Perth Wildcats play twice in Round 8, and 14 of the 15 most traded-in players come from those four clubs. The exception is Melbourne United’s Malith Machar ($69,000), now $87,700.
Last week’s most-bought player is now being sold. Jaylin Galloway ($196,400), now $179,500, is in 569 fewer teams than at the Round 7 lockout, down from 19.2 per cent to 16.0 per cent, and he is $16,900 under his starting price after his first price move.
The Hawks are being bought and sold at the same time. Illawarra fills four of the 10 biggest price falls of the week: Kelan Martin ($277,000), now $181,900, Lamar Patterson ($210,900), now $137,700, Sam Froling ($228,200), now $213,800, and Milton Doyle ($274,700), now $223,500. But with the Hawks playing twice in Rounds 8, 9 and 10, coaches are buying Johny Narkle ($69,000), now $117,900 (628 more teams), William Hickey ($331,600), now $217,800 (292), and Wani Swaka Lo Buluk ($145,200), now $95,900 (198). Hickey is still the biggest season faller in the game, $113,800 under his starting price.
Dakota Mathias ($145,200), now $228,300, was the biggest riser of the week, up $42,800 after scoring 75 across Tasmania’s Round 7 double. New Zealand Breakers big man Charles Bediako ($277,000), now $235,300, was next, up $37,000, though he is still $41,700 under his starting price.
The Breakers also had three of the 10 biggest falls. Parker Jackson-Cartwright ($405,200), now $426,000, dropped $51,500, the biggest fall of the week, after scoring 39 across two games, ahead of Nelson Weidemann ($277,000), now $228,700, who fell $48,300, and Mojave King ($189,100), now $177,800, who fell $19,600. Jackson-Cartwright is still $20,800 up on the season.
Adelaide 36ers forward Nick Rakocevic ($188,400), now $384,300, remains the biggest season riser, $195,900 above his starting price. Cole Anthony ($300,000), now $370,800, is up $70,800 on the season, but Melbourne plays once in Round 8, and he is in 919 fewer teams.
Ownership moves right up to lockout, so the order of the trade tables below can still change. Round 8 locks at 7.30pm AEDT on Wednesday, November 4, when Brisbane hosts Perth.
Below are the pre-Round 8 lockout trades in and out, along with the price rises and falls after Round 7.
