Former Adelaide and Melbourne star Daniel Johnson has signed for South East Melbourne as an injury replacement player.

South East Melbourne has reinforced its frontcourt after the calf injury suffered by Gorjok Gak, adding Adelaide legend and three-time All-NBL First Team nominee Daniel Johnson to its roster as a nominated replacement player.

Johnson, 35, ended a 13-season affiliation with the 36ers at the culmination of NBL23, after initially starting his professional career in 2008 with the Melbourne Tigers.

He joined the 36ers in 2010, at the same time as now Phoenix teammate Mitch Creek. The pair played eight seasons together in Adelaide before Creek departed for the NBA.

Johnson’s return to the NBL sees him re-take his position as the highest scoring active player in the competition, having scored 6160 total points across his 414 career appearances.
