Former Adelaide captain and Boomers Olympian Peter Ali will be inducted into the 36ers' Hall of Fame.

Adelaide 36ers legend Peter Ali is set to be the latest inclusion into the club’s Hall of Fame.

Ali played 279 NBL games after making his NBL debut in the competition’s inaugural 1979 season with the West Adelaide Bearcats, and remained in South Australia with the 36ers following the demise of the Bearcats at the end of the 1984 season.

He captained the 36ers in their inaugural season in 1985, and played a crucial role in teh club's first championship in 1986, in where Adelaide became the first and only team to register an undefeated home season.

Ali was also a member of Australia’s 1980 Olympic squad, and was appointed the NBL’s CEO in 2001.

He will be the ninth inductee into the club’s Hall of Fame.

“To be inducted into the Adelaide 36ers Hall of Fame is the club’s highest honour, and Peter is an incredibly worthy inductee,” 36ers owner Grant Kelley said.

“Peter not only achieved great success on the court, but following his playing days he contributed enormously as a coach, administrator and ambassador.

“I have personally appreciated Peter’s support during the past several years where we have sought to restore the club’s past successes.”

Ali will join Ken Cole, Brett Maher, Mark Davis, Darryl Pearce, Phil Smyth, Al Green, Scott Ninnis and Mike McKay in the club’s Hall of Fame.

Adelaide’s final game of the NBL24 regular season will be played on Sunday at 4:00pm AEDT against the New Zealand Breakers, live and free on ESPN via Kayo Freebies, 10 Peach and 10 Play, and Sky Sport in NZ.
