Tasmania JackJumpers coach Scott Roth has confirmed the club is aggressively looking to sign an injury replacement player for captain Clint Steindl.

Steindl has suffered stress fractures in his shins and could miss the opening month of the season.

While Roth said the club still needs to evaluate the full extent of Stenidl’s injury, he acknowledges the captain will be sidelined and a replacement is needed.

“We are in the market of looking around and seeing what’s available in the NBL1 and wherever else we can find someone we think would be a quality guy to fit our culture that could come in and help,” Roth told The Mercury.

“We have to find someone that’s in Clint’s realm. Shooting is always important, and experience, so we’ll be looking for someone in that realm and see what we can find.”

Steindl averaged nine points for the JackJumpers last season and provided strong leadership on and off the court.

Tasmania’s training camp starts on August 16, before they open the campaign on October 1 against the South East Melbourne Phoenix.
