Ware and 36ers talking

Three-time All-NBL First Team member Casper Ware is inching closer to a return to the league with the Adelaide 36ers according to ESPN.

“Definitely Adelaide is the team I've been talking to and showed interest to. We're trying to get something done. It has to happen quick, so if it does happen it has to happen in these next couple of days. If anything goes down, it'll go down quick, and I'll be right back in Australia doing my thing,” Ware told ESPN.

Throwdown mind games begin

South East Melbourne coach Simon Mitchell has warned no team is safe in the NBL, including the league leaders Melbourne United, ahead of Sunday’s Throwdown.

“If you don’t get the job done, you’re going to miss the finals. It’s for everybody and Melbourne is in that as well. I wouldn’t say they’re out and so far ahead of everybody,” Mitchell said via the Herald Sun.

Cadee finds his flow

Brisbane Bullets guard Jason Cadee said the ring felt a “little bit bigger than normal” in last night’s win over New Zealand, as he scored 22 points.

“It was nice. It's been a little while since I've been in that kind of rhythm. I sometimes get caught up in looking after everyone else except myself at times, which takes away from my offensive game,” Cadee said via MSN NZ.

Taipans not buying excuses

Even though their roster has been decimated by injuries, Cairns Taipans guard Jarrod Kenny refuses to use the ailments as an excuse.

“I’m looking forward to the day we have 11 rostered guys on the court at the same time. But like Fordey (coach Adam Forde) says – there’s no excuses, we’ve got to go out there and do what we do and we’ve got to be better at it,” Kenny said via the Cairns Post.

Hawks leaning on their bench

Illawarra Hawks coach Brian Goorjian says the club’s bench has stepped up, especially in Sunday’s win over South East Melbourne.

“I think if you look at the course of our season, we've been probably the worst team at involving our bench and depth of rotation. We were in a hole, we were stuck (against the Phoenix) and I think the last four or five games, we're starting to get more contribution from our bench,” Goorjian said via the Illawarra Mercury.
