Talking points

Response time for the Phoenix?

Nearly every expert predicted the South East Melbourne Phoenix would be a Playoff team at minimum, but Josh King’s men have stumbled out of the gates and are desperately looking for a response.

King’s message after the loss in Brisbane on Thursday was that they’re “not a good basketball team right now,” but that “it doesn’t mean we can’t become one.”

Snakes alive

Don’t look now, but the Cairns Taipans have won three straight and are beginning to resemble the high-octane team many predicted they’d be this season.

With Jaylon Brown finding his groove and Jack McVeigh up to his old tricks, this Taipans team is full of weapons and enjoying playing with one another.

As the rest of their roster starts to find their roles, Adam Forde is looking to continue to build something special with this group.
