Australia’s newest elite basketball training facility, Hoop City, will partner with the Hungry Jack’s NBL to develop the nation’s future stars.
The Hoop City U Development Program has been created by Australian Under 17 national coach and Melbourne United assistant coach Justin Schueller to develop elite young male players and provide direct pathways to the NBL and NBL1.
Former Olympian and Southside Flyers assistant coach and Head Coach of NBL1 team Frankston Blues Belinda Snell will oversee the program for the development of young female players.
The Hoop City U Development Program is delivered in a purpose built, state-of-the-art facility in Melbourne, the first of a number of Hoop City elite training facilities to be rolled out and is the only NBL-endorsed facility in the country.
Australian Boomer and Melbourne United superstar Chris Goulding said: "In the past it’s been a struggle to even find a court to practice, let alone get access to elite coaching.
“Hoop City has shooting and dribbling bays, skills clinics, camps, as well as individual and group coaching sessions. Whatever level of basketballer you are, training at Hoop City will help you to raise your game.”
NBL Commissioner Jeremy Loeliger said: “We’re proud to be partnering with Hoop City to strengthen the pathways for young players. Hoop City is a world-class training facility that will help aspiring ballers to be their very best.”
The academy is based on the Sport Australia FTEM Framework – Foundation, Talent, Elite & Mastery with tiered programs according to athletes’ age and ability that aim to develop the athlete’s skills and knowledge both on and off the court. Academy members will have access to Hoop City networks and pathways including NBL, NBL1, US specialty programs and the US College system.
The academy involves individualised programs covering basketball skills, strength and conditioning, speed and agility to provide a comprehensive way to raise your game.
Hoop City is the place for hoopers of all ages. It exists to help aspiring basketballers to take their game to new levels in a safe, fun and challenging environment. Hoop City combines technology and training tools with professionally designed coaching programs to provide members with a true competitive edge.
Aspiring athletes can contact Hoop City to register for the program by visiting www.hoopcity.com.au, emailing info@hoopcity.com.au or calling 0418799611.
