Everything fans need to know about Australia’s 3x3 campaign in Glasgow for the Commonwealth Games.

The Commonwealth Games are ready to begin in Scotland, with the Australian teams looking to build on their success at Birmingham 2022, where both claimed medals.

The Australian contingent

Australia will field four teams in Glasgow, with men's and women's squads in both the 3x3 and wheelchair 3x3 events.

Expanded competition

The 3x3 field has expanded from eight to 12 teams in both the men’s and women’s competitions, and from six to eight teams in the wheelchair basketball, further highlighting the format’s rapid growth worldwide.

The men's squad

Perth Wildcats veteran and three-time Commonwealth Games representative Jesse Wagstaff returns after leading the men’s team to a silver medal four years ago.

Wagstaff will suit up alongside Brisbane Bullets wing Sam McDaniel, Jonah Antonio and Jared Bairstow.

The rules

- Games are played on a half-court using one basket.
- Games run for 10 minutes without quarters or a half-time break.
- Play continues immediately after a basket is scored.
- Teams feature four players, with three on court and one substitute.
- The first team to score 21 points wins.
- If neither side reaches 21, the team leading when time expires is the winner.

How to watch

The Commonwealth Games will be shown in Australia via the Seven Network, inclusive of Seven, 7mate and 7plus.

The coach

Cairns Taipans coach Adam Forde will lead the Australian men's team in Glasgow.

“The Comm Games is a flagship event that attracts so much interest in players on every level around the country. Our preparation has already started with identifying those players who are not only extremely talented, but also embody the values and attributes needed to represent the green and gold.” - coach Adam Forde.

"They're (Antonio, Bairstow, McDaniel) debutants at the Commonwealth Games, but two of them (Antonio and Bairstow) just came off a World Cup and they're all quite experienced at 3x3.

"So if anything, I'm the rookie coming in - I haven't played 3x3 for a while, so I will be relying on them as well." - veteran Jesse Wagstaff.
