The Cleveland Cavaliers will keep a watchful eye on draftee Luke Travers during the NBL season.
The Cavs selected Travers with the 56th pick in this year’s draft, and the 21-year-old will spend this campaign back in Perth with the Wildcats as his development continues.
Travers has had a busy offseason playing in the NBA Summer League and then the Australian Boomers, with the Cavaliers staying in constant contact with him during the FIBA World Cup qualification games.
“They've (Cleveland) been watching my Boomers games (and) flicking me some texts here and there,” Travers told ESPN.

The feedback from his NBA team will continue during the NBL season, with the Cavs even planning a trip down under to get a first-hand look at their investment.
“I think they've got some plans to come out to Australia sometime coming up,” Travers said.
“To have that contact and support, knowing they're watching my games is definitely a positive and definitely going into the future it gives me something to look forward to.”
Travers’ role in Perth under new coach John Rillie has yet to be determined, but the youngster is ready to take on anything that is asked of him.
“To be honest, I'm not really fussed, that's the culture we have brought in,” Travers said.
“I'm not phased about (starting), that's always been a thing for me. No matter what my role is I'll bring the energy, do the little things.”
