Breakers to Return to New Zealand

The SKY Sport New Zealand Breakers will make their long awaited return to New Zealand on May 20 when they play the Sydney Kings. The Hungry Jack’s NBL today released the final six rounds of the schedule for the regular season which will include seven home games for the Breakers who’ve been based in Australia since the start of the season.

The Hungry Jack’s NBL today released the final six rounds of the schedule for the regular season which will include seven home games for the Breakers who’ve been based in Australia since the start of the season.

New Zealand will play seven games in Auckland on top of their six home games at the Silverdome in Launceston and one in Bendigo.

Other highlights of Rounds 16-21 include:

  • A total of 49 games to be played in 40 days from Rounds 16-21 with the home and away season to end on Sunday June 6 when Melbourne United play the Adelaide 36ers at John Cain Arena
  • The Illawarra Hawks to play seven homes games at WIN Entertainment Centre while the Sydney Kings will host four games at Qudos Bank Arena as both teams look to secure finals places
  • The Perth Wildcats and the Brisbane Bullets will each host five home games while Melbourne United and South East Melbourne Phoenix will each host six games
  • A further two games at the Launceston Silverdome featuring the Breakers

Hungry Jack’s NBL Commissioner Jeremy Loeliger said: “We are delighted that the Breakers will be finally able to return home to New Zealand to be reunited with their family and friends and finish the season in front of their fans.

“We thank all of the Breakers’ players, coaches and staff who’ve made an incredible sacrifice to make this season happen and everyone involved in the league is extremely grateful for everything they’ve done.

“Despite the significant challenges presented to us this season, we’ve seen world class basketball and we now look forward to what should be a thrilling climax to the season as teams jostle for finals spots.”
