Friday, July 19, 2024

The Australian Boomers will be in action this weekend.

The Australian Boomers will have one final chance to iron out their gameplan ahead of the Paris Olympics when they battle Puerto Rico and France this weekend.

Australia and Puerto Rico will meet at the Co’Met Arena Orleans in France at 2:30am AEST on Saturday, July 20.

The Boomers will then face the host country of the Olympics on Monday July 22 at 5:00am AEST.

Australia has had a strong warm-up schedule, defeating China twice in Melbourne before falling to the USA in a brave effort, and then defeating Serbia, in a pair of exhibition games in Abu Dhabi.

The preparation games will be vital for Brian Goorjian’s squad, who enter the Olympics with a tough pool consisting of international powerhouses Canada, Spain and Greece.

Australia’s last Olympic appearance ended in historic finishing, with the Boomers securing a bronze medal, the nation’s first medal in Olympic men’s basketball.

The Olympics begin for the Boomers on July 27 against Spain.
