Alex Sarr racked up franchise-first numbers for the Washington Wizards in his debut season, and now has been honoured by the league.

Former Perth Wildcats Next Star and number two draft pick, Alex Sarr, has capped off an impressive rookie season by earning a place on the NBA All-Rookie first team.

The seven-foot big man out of France had a big impact for Washington in his debut season, averaging 13 points, 6.5 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.5 blocks per game.

He was the only rookie in the Wizards’ franchise history to average those numbers and just the fifth rookie since 2003 to average at least 10 points, five rebounds, two assists and one block per game.

Sarr received 54 first-team votes and 42 second-team votes, which was enough to finish fifth in the rookie voting and land a place on the first-team.

After his strong season for the Wildcats, Sarr displayed all the aspects of his game that made him a lottery pick, finishing top fight among rookies in points, rebounds and blocks.

His best game for the season came on March 15 where he had a season-high 34 points over Denver.
