Adelaide Drop Bombshell, Release Star Guard

Tuesday, November 8, 2022
The Adelaide 36ers have announced that the club has parted ways with star import Craig Randall II
The Adelaide 36ers have announced that the club has parted ways with star import Craig Randall II after just six games. He will depart the 36ers, effectively immediately.
One of Adelaide’s trio of high-profile off-season import recruits, Randall arrived in Australia following a successful stint with the Long Island Nets in the NBA G-League and came to the NBL fresh off of winning the competition’s Most Improved Player award.
He quickly announced himself on the world stage during the 36ers’ NBLxNBA tour, after dropping 35 points in his side’s historic win over the Phoenix Suns – a performance which had linked him to a host of NBA sides before his eventual return to Australia.
After top-scoring for the 36ers in four of his six games – he’s averaged just over 20 points per game this season – Randall was missing from his side’s recent win over the Illawarra Hawks due to injury, where import forward Robert Franks and club legend Daniel Johnson picking up the scoring load in his absence.
In their statement the club said:
"The Adelaide 36ers and Craig Randall II have agreed to part ways by mutual consent effective from today.
"The decision has been made in the best interests of Craig and the club moving forward and for Craig to pursue other opportunities at the highest level.
"The 36ers organisation would like to thank Craig for his time at the club and wish him all the best in his future endeavours."
Nick Marshall will be elevated to the 36ers' 11-man roster as the club reviews a possible replacement.
Randall’s departure opens up an import slot for the remainder of the season.
