The Adelaide 36ers have today announced that Jeremy Kendle, an Australian-based import guard, has been signed and will join the team immediately.
The recent departure of Donald Sloan created a vacancy on the roster for a short-term contract and while several options were canvased, Kendle’s experience and character ensured the Club acted quickly to secure his services.
The Indiana-born and raised combo guard possesses a strong professional background, having plied his trade in Morocco, Switzerland, New Zealand, China, and Australia.
The 32-year-old came to Australia in 2015 to initially play for the Toowoomba Mountaineers, before joining NBL1 organisation the Bendigo Braves where he was named league and Grand Final MVP in 2016.
He went on to play with the Brisbane Bullets during the the 2016-17 season, the Sydney Kings in 2017-18 and then once again with the Bullets in 2018-19.
Most recently Kendle was appointed coach/player of the South West Metro Pirates in the NBL1 North in 2020 before coronavirus caused the cancellation of that season.
GM of Basketball Jeff Van Groningen welcomes Kendle to the 36ers and states, “Jeremy has a strong reputation as both a person and player and we were delighted he was available and in the country. He has answered the call and we look forward to him contributing to the team,”.
“A number of us have worked with Jeremy in the past and he is a top-flight human being and a talented player. While we continue to look into roster options, we are delighted that Jeremy is with us now and we know he’ll add to our program”, Van Groningen concluded.
The Adelaide 36ers are set to play their next game against Jeremy’s former team, the Brisbane Bullets, at Nissan Arena on Saturday night, followed by a home game on Monday night.
