Wildcats Vegas Bound for G-League Ignite Series

The Perth Wildcats are heading to Las Vegas this NBA off-season, and will become the first Australian side to take on the NBA G-League Ignite as part of their pre-season camp in Nevada.

The two games – which will be played on September 6 and September 8 – will be the first glimpse Wildcats fans have of projected top 20 pick Alexandre Sarr, star signing Keanu Pinder, and New Zealand wonderkid Dontae Russo-Nance.

“We are thrilled to have been invited to travel to Las Vegas in early September to compete in a two-game series against the G-League Ignite,” Wildcats General Manager of Basketball Operations Danny Mills said.

“Taking our team and the organisation to play on a global stage is an integral part of our long-term strategy as a club.

“We are incredibly excited and grateful that G-League president Shareef Abdur-Rahim and Ignite GM Anthony McClish have provided our could this opportunity to represent the city of Perth, the state of Western Australia, and the NBL in what we hope is an ongoing collaboration.

“The international presence within the G-League grows stronger each year, and with these pre-season games against a storied and successful program in the Perth Wildcats, we’re excited to continue to showcase some of the best young prospects and top talent from around the globe,” Abdur-Rahim added.

“If last year’s games are any indication, this will be another competitive and electrifying pre-season.”

The games will be the first time the Wildcats have played in America since they clashed with Utah and Denver in 2018.

The last side to take on the G-League Ignite in their Fall Invitational was French side Metropolitans 92, and the game saw former Breaker Hugo Besson and eventual number one draft pick Victor Wembanyama, battle top prospect Scoot Henderson and former Taipan and 36er Mojave King.
